MARINA ALEXANDER

MUSICAL & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Vocal & Musical Development

In each rehearsal, special attention is paid to building our member’s vocal technique, stressing fundamentals of

  • Breathing and breath control
  • Support
  • Vocal tone
  • Range extension
  • Singing on pitch

Exercises to develop and improve
technical music skills
are also a key part
of the Chorale’s regular efforts.

Arcadian Chorale prioritizes the health and well-being of our members and audiences. We recommend that participants take COVID vaccinations and boosters as they are available, and wear masks in rehearsals and performances as they feel necessary.

Auditions are also available at any time online via Zoom with our Music Director, Marina Alexander.

Our Music Director will ask you to sing a few simple scales. This will provide the following important info:

  • How well you match pitch
  • The range of your voice, to determine which                 voice part is best for you
  • The tone quality of your voice, to determine                   how to place you in the chorus

Other skills important to your successful participation include the ability to
read music (to some degree) and
reproduce rhythmic figures.

A prepared song is not necessary,
but do feel free to offer one if you wish.
